After the World Championships in Rotterdam, Kaylia Nemour aims higher

Kaylia Nemour's ambition has grown after her performance at the World Championships in Rotterdam in October 2026, where she excelled on her favorite apparatus, the uneven bars and the beam, finishing just off the podium in the all-around competition.

The Algerian will not go to Los Angeles just to defend her Olympic title on the uneven bars, which she won two years ago in Paris.

In Los Angeles, Nemour will target the uneven bars, the beam, and the all-around

“I don’t know anyone competing at a high level whose goal isn’t to win. It then depends on the level of practice. Today, with the experience and level she has, the ambition is of course to go for multiple medals,” Nadia Massé told TSA.

Kaylia Nemour will focus on the uneven bars and beam events as well as the all-around competition, her coach specified.

“She has proven her excellence on the beam, but regarding the vault, it is challenging because to qualify for the final, she needs to present two distinct vaults. And with her medical history concerning her knees, it is difficult to push too hard on that. However, for the all-around, only one vault is required. She has a very good competition vault, so the goal will be the all-around and the beam, in addition to the uneven bars, the Franco-Algerian technician explained.

Three gold medals? With Kaylia Nemour, anything is possible

“Three gold medals? We will see. In any case, what I know is that you have to aim for the moon to reach the stars,” she says, while remaining realistic. “Saying that makes me smile, but achieving it demands respect. I prefer not to rush things; there are still 20 months left,” Nadia Massé tempers.

Three gold medals for Algeria at the Olympics would be a historic achievement, surpassing the previous record of two medals won in Atlanta in 1996 and Paris in 2024. With Kaylia Nemour, the dream is within reach.
