F1 approaches the milestone of 1 billion fans as Stefano Domenicali celebrates the rise in female viewership.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has announced that the championship is nearing 1 billion fans worldwide, thanks to a younger demographic, a rise in female viewers, and greater exposure to the personalities of the drivers.
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Domenicali talked about F1's continued growth and its achievements in the American market.
"We are very close to reaching 1 billion [fans]. We hope to return here, Jimmy, to celebrate that milestone. It’s significant," Domenicali elaborated.
"Formula 1 is a global sport. We are visiting 24 locations around the globe. In fact, after this amazing opportunity tonight, I will head to Baku in Azerbaijan, then on to Malaysia, and then Singapore.
"We are appealing to younger viewers, and now a significant number of females are following us as well. That’s fantastic. 40% of our new fan base consists of women. So, that’s wonderful."
He credited part of this growth to showcasing more of the personalities of the 22 drivers through Netflix's Drive to Survive series and the drivers' individual social media channels, which has helped enhance their personal brands.

"Of course, they are professional drivers, but they understand they are part of a larger ecosystem," he added. "Typically, you see them in their gloves, helmets, and race suits, which makes them less recognizable. Now we’ve given them the chance to be known outside of that context."
Domenicali also highlighted the ongoing success of the three grands prix in the US—Miami, Austin, and Las Vegas—pointing out that the logistical complexities of the Las Vegas Strip circuit have resulted in sold-out events. He also mentioned the success of the F1 film, which featured Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, grossing over $634 million globally and filmed during actual F1 race weekends.
