The national javelin throw record holder, Daouda Coulibaly, won the gold medal at the inaugural Faso Athletics Cup, held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the 4-Août Stadium in Ouagadougou. A member of AS Douanes and representing the Kadiogo League, he achieved a throw of 62.05 meters to secure victory in his event.
This performance marks his best result since he set his national record of 65.49 meters in Accra, Ghana, in 2025, during the Region II Athletics Championships. With this gold medal, the Burkinabé thrower confirms his status as an athlete to watch closely in his specialty.
The president of the Kadiogo League, Théodore Kafando, praised this performance and highlighted the work accomplished by the athlete. This result also represents a positive signal for Daouda Coulibaly ahead of his future sporting competitions.
