Fernando Alonso puts a unique hot lap experience up for auction to benefit charity.
A Formula 1 enthusiast will have the chance to spend a December morning in the passenger seat next to two-time champion Fernando Alonso at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as the Spaniard offers a hot lap for auction to benefit his foundation.
This unique experience is part of JOOPITER's The Modern Grid: An Auction of F1 Memorabilia event, which runs from October 7 to 20. It is estimated to fetch between $12,000 and $18,000. As of this writing, the auction had already garnered seven bids, reaching a current total of $12,000. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Fundación Fernando Alonso.
The event is scheduled for December 16. The successful bidder will receive a rundown of the day's itinerary before donning an Adidas racing suit and a Bell helmet to take a seat in Alonso's Aston Martin DTM car "or similar".
Alonso will take the winning bidder on approximately two hot laps, during which they can communicate via an intercom system. The laps will be recorded with an onboard camera, and the fan will receive the footage on a personalized USB drive to keep as a memento.

Along with the video, the winning bidder will also receive the race suit, which Alonso will autograph.

The auction also features race suits, helmets, and an F1 show car.
