Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, visited the Moroccan capital Rabat as part of a new trip coinciding with the start of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup "Morocco 2026", expressing his happiness to return to the kingdom and praising the passion for football in the hearts of Moroccans.
The FIFA chief was welcomed by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, during the visit dedicated to attending the opening ceremony of the global tournament and watching the opening match, reflecting Morocco's status on the agenda of international football events.
Infantino expressed his pride in being in Morocco once again, noting the position the kingdom has gained within the global football system, thanks to the increasing focus on developing the game and the diligent efforts to host major competitions across various categories.
The FIFA President also praised the atmosphere surrounding football in Morocco, considering that the passionate fan culture in the kingdom transcends the stadium and is also linked to values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace that represent part of the messages carried by sports around the world.
This visit comes at a time when Morocco continues to strengthen its presence in organizing international tournaments, benefiting from the development of its sports infrastructure and its growing experience in hosting teams, delegations, and fans, factors that have contributed to solidifying its image as a destination that attracts the attention of global football bodies.
Hosting the U-17 Women's World Cup is seen as one of the new milestones in the kingdom's journey of organizing international events, providing women's football with an additional opportunity to expand its base and enhance young talents through a tournament featuring teams from various continents.
In this context, all eyes are on the major challenge awaiting Morocco in 2030, when it will co-host the Men's World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, a date that presents the kingdom with a new challenge to prove its organizational capabilities and continue to enhance its status on the global football map.
