Currently, Ivory Coast is not a priority for Eli Junior Kroupi. The Bournemouth forward, who also has the option to represent the Elephants, has reaffirmed his desire to play for the French national team.
At just 20 years old, the former Lorient player wants to continue with the team he has known since his youth.
In an interview with DAZN this Saturday, Kroupi explained his position based on his personal and sporting journey. “I have always played for the French youth teams. I was born in France, I started football in France,” he recalled, before emphasizing: “Of course, the French team is the goal.”
Portugal had also shown interest in the player ahead of the 2026 World Cup, citing his family ties to the country. However, Kroupi dismissed this option. Today, his ambition is to convince Zinédine Zidane, the head coach of Les Bleus, to give him a chance. Currently injured, he must first regain his best form to hope to take this step.
