Franco Colapinto received an additional grid penalty for the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Alpine's Franco Colapinto faces an extra grid penalty at the Formula 1 Bahrain GP in Malaysia following the installation of a new Mercedes V6 engine.
Initially, Colapinto was set to incur a five-place grid drop at Sepang, a consequence of his collision with Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris in Baku last weekend.
The Argentinian will now face a further demotion for utilizing a fifth Mercedes internal combustion engine this season, surpassing the permitted four units.
Given that Colapinto is already subject to a five-place grid penalty, making a comeback to the points appears challenging; Alpine deemed it beneficial to introduce the new Mercedes V6 to mitigate further losses. He will now incur an additional 10-place penalty, totaling 15 places, likely relegating him to the back row at the start.
Alpine is engaged in a close contest with Racing Bulls for fifth position in the constructors' championship, having suffered a setback from Colapinto's incident in Baku, which allowed Racing Bulls to capitalize. Rather than closing the gap, Alpine's deficit has now expanded to 15 points in the Azerbaijani capital.
Colapinto's teammate, Gasly, is also scheduled for a new power unit in the upcoming races, though Alpine has yet to determine when to implement the new engine and incur a grid penalty.
In Malaysia, Racing Bulls newcomer Arvid Lindblad will also receive a penalty for installing a new engine, turbocharger, and exhaust, which will drop him to the end of the grid, while Red Bull's Isack Hadjar will be penalized five places for taking his seventh V6 engine of the season.
