Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has reportedly expressed interest in the head coach position for the Black Stars, according to an exclusive from GHANASoccernet.com.
At 54 years old, the Trinidad and Tobago legend boasts an impressive career. During his time at Manchester United, he notably won the UEFA Champions League, three Premier League titles, and the FA Cup.
“If they [Ghana] are looking for something new, something dynamic, then I can offer this attacking style of football that I have studied over the years,” he reportedly told his local representative.
Yorke was part of the Manchester United team that achieved the historic treble in 1998-1999. He is also known for his formidable attacking partnership with Andy Cole.
In terms of coaching qualifications, the former international holds a UEFA Pro license, the highest level of coaching certification in Europe. He continued his coaching education while working with Manchester United's youth teams at Carrington. He also possesses UEFA A and B licenses.
His first significant coaching experience came in July 2022 when he took the reins at Macarthur FC in the Australian A-League. In his first season, he led the Bulls to their first title in the Australia Cup.
In November 2024, Yorke was appointed head coach of Trinidad and Tobago, a country he had captained during the 2006 World Cup in Germany. However, his tenure ended in March 2026 after the team failed to qualify for the World Cup. Under his leadership, Trinidad and Tobago won four of their 18 matches.
His coaching journey also includes roles as an assistant at Sunderland and with the Trinidad and Tobago national team, allowing him to adapt to various environments in the world of football.
