Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi recalled the match he played against Ronaldo in a previous World Cup edition.

Hakimi shared on his official Instagram account a photo with Ronaldo from the Morocco vs. Portugal match in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, writing in English: "Thank you for everything, Cristiano. You are a legend who will remain immortal in the history of football forever."

The photo is from the match held between the two teams in the second round of the group stage of the World Cup, which ended with Portugal winning 1-0.

Ronaldo scored the only goal of the match with a header in the fourth minute, giving his team three points, while Morocco suffered its second consecutive defeat, exiting the tournament early.

Hakimi started for Morocco in that match, which was one of his first experiences on the global stage, while Ronaldo was leading the Portuguese team in his fourth World Cup appearance.

At the age of 41, Ronaldo ended his international career, which began in August 2003, having played 234 international matches and scored 146 goals, becoming the world record holder for the most international matches and goals in men's football.
