Isack Hadjar gains "teammate points" following his "remarkable recovery" in Baku, according to Alex Brundle.
Isack Hadjar from Red Bull secured vital "team-mate points" after an "impressive comeback" to finish third at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as highlighted by F1 TV analyst Alex Brundle.
Making his return to racing following a wrist injury and armed with a freshly signed contract with Red Bull for 2027, Hadjar took advantage of a late mistake from McLaren's Oscar Piastri to achieve a double podium alongside second-place driver Max Verstappen.
In the post-race analysis on F1 TV, Brundle commended Hadjar's speed and his adherence to team directives when instructed to maintain his position behind Verstappen.
"Regardless of the circumstances, I believe Max would have finished comfortably ahead of Hadjar by the end of the race," Brundle noted. "And as it unfolded, he likely would have overtaken him quite rapidly when he switched to the soft tyres.
"However, Hadjar truly delivered an outstanding recovery today and has earned solid team-mate points for playing his role effectively, showcasing remarkable speed this weekend.
"If you're looking to make a comeback from an injury with a new contract in hand, this is the ideal scenario, and he completely earned that podium. In fact, as a duo, they were the top performers on the track today."

Damon Hill, the 1996 Formula 1 champion who joined Brundle for the broadcast, remarked: "What an incredible recovery from Isack Hadjar, bouncing back after his injury and time away. They were a formidable team. You can never underestimate Red Bull.
"They are an assertive racing team that takes risks. They're always competing fiercely, and they’re remarkable. One must acknowledge that they've navigated through numerous leadership changes and challenges, yet they remain a competitive force."
Currently, Verstappen and Hadjar hold sixth and eighth places in the drivers' championship with 163 points and 86 points, respectively. Consequently, Red Bull is positioned fourth in the constructors' standings with 263 points, which includes the points earned by Liam Lawson while substituting for the injured Hadjar.
