James Vowles praises Williams' factory performance following significant upgrades in Baku F1.

"It is no small task to deliver two new chassis, significantly reduce weight from a package, and implement an aerodynamic update simultaneously, and to accomplish all of that for Baku. 

"We initiated discussions about this a few months back, but it’s truly remarkable to witness it come to fruition here this weekend."

The enhanced package showed potential during qualifying, with Carlos Sainz advancing to Q3, but the race presented greater difficulties. Sainz earned a point with a 10th-place finish, although he is currently under investigation for a suspected infringement related to practice starts. His teammate Alex Albon crashed out on lap 31.

"As evident in qualifying, we managed to achieve a commendable result, but the race was quite inconsistent, and at times, particularly with Carlos, we struggled to replicate the performance displayed in qualifying," Vowles added.

"We believe we have some insights on that already, but kudos to Carlos for battling until the very end for that point.

"As for Alex, it’s truly unfortunate. He was driving exceptionally well. A sudden gust of wind ultimately prevented him from reducing speed in time, resulting in a collision with the wall. Such factors are part of Baku; it’s a street circuit, and these conditions can be quite unforgiving.

"We will have that car ready for Malaysia, which is set to occur [next week]. [Baku was] the first of a triple-header. But as I mentioned, it’s a solid start, though there’s still work ahead."
