French forward Kylian Mbappé told The Athletic that he was close to joining Liverpool in 2017.
Mbappé played for Monaco, PSG, and is now with Real Madrid. Before signing with PSG in 2017, he had the chance to head to Anfield.
“I was close to Liverpool. My mother was a big admirer of Klopp and her favorite club was Liverpool; she wanted me to go there. I didn't listen to her because I wanted to play in my city, Paris. I didn't want to leave my country until I had succeeded.”
