Lando Norris: FIA ought to impose a race suspension on Franco Colapinto following the Baku F1 incident.

Current world champion Lando Norris expressed his belief that Franco Colapinto merits "at least a one-race suspension" for instigating a crash during the Azerbaijan GP in F1.
During a restart on lap 36 in the streets of Baku, Colapinto lost control of his cold front tires and recklessly collided with his Alpine teammate Gasly at Turn 1, with Norris also getting caught up in the chaos.
This incident led to both Gasly and Norris retiring from the race, culminating in a disappointing day for the McLaren driver, who struggled with speed and made his own error at Turn 1 that pushed him back into the pack during the restart.
The collision at the restart left Norris infuriated, convinced that Colapinto's reckless behavior warrants severe consequences from F1's race officials.
"I haven't seen it. I just got taken out. I believe the FIA should enforce stricter measures and start issuing suspensions for this kind of behavior," Norris expressed. "It's careless on their part. It incurs significant costs; all my components are now wrecked. People should face bans because that kind of driving doesn't belong in Formula 1."
When questioned about potential mitigating factors for the incident on the treacherous Baku track, Norris replied: "In Formula 1, you expect drivers to be able to foresee situations. Grip levels will be low; tire temperatures are low; they weren't even that low. In Formula 1, we aim to compete against the best drivers globally, and when incidents like this occur, it's due to the fact that [they] shouldn't be in this environment."
"I haven't witnessed it, but if you cause a crash during a restart like that, you should receive at least a one-race suspension."

Colapinto, who also faced criticism from teammate Gasly as they were both in contention for points, expressed remorse afterward.
"A significant error," the Argentinian admitted. "I completely locked up with cold tires and cold brakes and lost all control. There's not much more to say besides sorry to the team, to Pierre of course, to everyone at the factory.
"We have been putting in a lot of effort to earn points, and I squandered that opportunity with this major mistake. So, I'm very disappointed for the team. I'm also sorry to Lando."
