Lewis Hamilton captures attention with his opinion on Fernando Alonso as supporters celebrate him as a "legend."

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has received significant acclaim on social media for his remarks regarding Fernando Alonso's contract renewal with Aston Martin.
Leading up to the Bahrain Grand Prix, which took place in Malaysia, the Spaniard signed a contract that will keep him with the Silverstone team until at least the conclusion of 2027.
Unsurprisingly, the two-time champion's dedication sparked lively discussions in the paddock at Sepang International Circuit, with numerous drivers sharing their thoughts on the news.
Alonso's contract extension will allow him to compete in F1 at the age of 46. "There are many drivers at the front who cannot match Fernando’s pure talent. He just isn't able to showcase it right now," Hamilton stated to the media in Sepang.
The Ferrari driver's remarks have quickly gained traction on social media. "Game recognizes game," one fan remarked on Reddit, while another noted: "I enjoy it when they occasionally compliment one another."
"Heartwarming to see the younger generation getting along," another quipped, and another user wrote: "Ferwis is alive and well. Last year, grandpa defended unc when he was struggling in red. Now unc is defending grandpa."
Additional comments on an Autosport Instagram post include: "Lewis demonstrating why he is a legend..." and "I hope Aston can turn things around for Fernando so he can compete for points again."
Alonso made his F1 debut at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix and has participated in 440 grands prix. Throughout his career, he has claimed championship titles in 2005 and 2006, along with 32 grand prix victories, 106 podium finishes, and 22 pole positions. He has raced for Minardi, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, Alpine, and now Aston Martin.
The Silverstone team has been grappling with car and power unit challenges in 2026. Consequently, it currently occupies 10th place in the constructors' championship with three points.
