Lewis Hamilton: “I’m made differently” as he looks towards an F1 career extending into the 2030s.

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton claims he is “constructed differently” as he contemplates the possibility of extending his career to compete at the upcoming African Grand Prix.
F1 has recently unveiled a decade-long agreement with Rwanda to host a race at a new track near Kigali, with the event anticipated to be included on the calendar in the early 2030s. In light of this announcement, he shared his perspective on the contract after advocating for a return to the continent for quite some time.
He humorously remarked that he would need to prolong his career to race there, but how serious is he about that?
"First and foremost, in the last decade, you haven't seen anyone like me here. So I genuinely feel that I'm constructed differently," he stated. "Naturally, there are challenges ahead that I can't predict as I age. However, throughout this journey, there have been numerous preconceived notions about the decline of reaction time as one gets older.
"Did you observe my reaction during the last race? My reaction time is quicker than some of the youngest competitors here. There are many tools available that one can use to keep both the body and mind sharp. I suppose as long as you're prepared to sacrifice everything, which I certainly am at the moment. I can't predict in four years if I'll still want to pursue what I'm doing, but I genuinely enjoy it now.
"I'm fully committed, and I intend to remain so for the foreseeable future. Whether I can compete at 44 against a 20-year-old is uncertain. But at 41, I can certainly compete with a 20-year-old. Time will reveal whether I'm still here in the 30s. We'll see.
"However, I never wish to overstay my welcome in terms of performance. I don’t want to be on the track if my abilities have significantly declined. If my reactions, drive, and pace have diminished, as many predicted last year, then I wouldn’t want to be here. But I’ve proven them wrong and will continue to strive to do so."

Hamilton currently stands third in the drivers’ standings, just one point shy of George Russell in the battle for second place. However, the Brit emphasized that this rivalry is not his primary concern.
“I wouldn’t say it’s insignificant, but it’s not something I concentrate on. I believe winning the championship is the only aspect that truly matters,” he stated.
Instead, Hamilton aims to secure second place in the constructors’ championship for his team, which finished fourth last season, and he plans to utilize the last five races as preparation for 2027.
“I’m really treating these five races as a testing ground for next year’s car. I’m engaging with our head of aerodynamics, discussing vehicle dynamics, and identifying areas where we can enhance this car, particularly in maintaining the strengths of the chassis, which has performed well this year.”
