Ligue 1: MCA returns to the league with a smile (video)

After several weeks of waiting, the Algerian champion has finally returned to national competition. In their first appearance in the league this season, CR Belouizdad secured the essentials against MB Rouissat.
CR Belouizdad officially kicked off its 2026-2027 season in the league on Friday night. Excluded from their first two Ligue 1 matches due to their participation in the CAF Champions League, Khaled Ben Yahia's players made their competitive debut by hosting MB Rouissat at the Ali Ammar Stadium.
In this first outing on the national stage, the Red and Greens immediately showed their ambitions. The defending champions did not falter and won by a score of two to zero, thus earning their first points of the season.
The match quickly tilted in favor of the Mouloudians. In the 6th minute, Chahreddine Boukholda found the back of the net, allowing his team to take the lead. A crucial advantage for MCA, which then had to manage the assaults from MB Rouissat, eager to get back into the match.
Although the promoted team displayed good intentions, CR Belouizdad managed to maintain its lead thanks to solid defensive organization. The score remained unchanged until halftime, allowing both teams to head to the locker rooms with a narrow lead for the hosts.
Upon resuming, MCA quickly extended the gap. Substituted in, Ben Ahmed Kouhili made his mark in the 60th minute by scoring his team's second goal. This goal definitively secured the victory and allowed the Algerian champion to manage the end of the match with more serenity.
This victory allows CR Belouizdad to start its title defense in the best possible way. After confirming its passage to the preliminary round of the Champions League against the Nigerien representative, the Algerian club continues on a positive trajectory.
MCA will now need to catch up on its two postponed matches against MC Oran and JS Kabylie, while preparing for its next continental clash against the Nigerians of Enugu Rangers.
