Maaloul hints at leaving CR Belouizdad
CR Belouizdad coach Nabil Maaloul has expressed his desire to leave the club following the 2-2 draw against USM Alger last Saturday in the seventh round of the professional league.
The derby match was marred by refereeing controversies, with four penalties awarded, three of which were in favor of USM Alger, while CR Belouizdad players voiced their frustration at being denied one.
The Tunisian coach lamented the missed opportunity for victory, emphasizing that his team entered the match aiming for all three points due to the significance of the encounter in the title race.
Maaloul stated: “Since the beginning of the season, we have been striving with the management to win every match. When you want to compete for the top positions, you must win matches.”
The coach added: “We played to win, but unfortunately, we couldn’t achieve that.. I thank the players, as they delivered a strong performance.”
At the end of his statements, Maaloul expressed his gratitude to the “Madar” company, which holds the majority of the club's shares, as well as to president Mohamed Arar and sporting director Jaber Naamoun, and the club's fans.
He then surprised everyone by hinting at his intention to end his tenure with the club, which began last summer. He concluded by saying: “I cannot continue, thank you.”
