Initially set to participate in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, 34-year-old goalkeeper Zacharie Boucher will not represent the Madagascar national team. The federation has made a decision and has officially removed him from the list of selected players for upcoming international competitions.

This resolution follows a heated controversy sparked by the resurfacing of his statements from 2018. At that time, the goalkeeper had formally rejected the idea of playing for the Barea, claims that resurfaced with the announcement of his selection.

In response to public pressure and multiple requests from supporters demanding his immediate withdrawal, the technical staff and officials decided to reverse their decision. Zacharie Boucher is now excluded from the team, bringing an end to this particularly tense episode.
