The friendly match between Egypt and South Africa witnessed a unique historical event, as goalkeeper Mohamed Soliman made his debut for the Pharaohs for the first time in his sporting career.
Soliman entered the history of Egyptian football by becoming the oldest player to wear the national team jersey for the first time in an international match, whether official or friendly, at the age of 39 years, 3 months, and 26 days.
The Egyptian national football team suffered a defeat against South Africa, losing 1-0 in the friendly match held between the two teams on Sunday evening at Cairo International Stadium, concluding the current camp that included matches against Angola and South Sudan, where Egypt collected 4 points to top Group B in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The match was officiated by Algerian referee Nabil Boukhalfa, assisted by his colleagues Hamza Bouzit and Haitham Bouiyouma, as part of the officiating team for the friendly match between Egypt and South Africa at Cairo Stadium.
Egypt missed its captain Mohamed Salah in this match, along with Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, after coordinating with them and their departure from the camp, while the coaching staff decided to rest Haitham Hassan.
