Mahrez: "I am excited to return to the competitive atmosphere, but I need some time."

Algerian player Riyad Mahrez commented on his first appearance on Saturday with his new team Al-Shamal during the match against Lusail.

Mahrez told Qatari media after the match: "I feel happy to be back in the competitive atmosphere again, and I was excited to participate and help my team."

He also added: "Since I haven't played since the World Cup, I need to return gradually without rushing. I need some time and rhythm to help my team."

Riyad Mahrez continued: "We tried to win the match, but unfortunately, we couldn't do that. At least we didn't lose."

It is worth noting that Riyad Mahrez came on as a substitute starting from the 64th minute in the match that saw his team Al-Shamal face Lusail, which ended in a goalless draw.
