Malvin Mastil in jeopardy, his future with the Greens at risk?

As the next gathering of the Algerian national team approaches, the recent performances of the Greens' goalkeeper Melvin Mastil could redefine the hierarchy among the goalkeepers. This is a situation worth monitoring closely.
Things are getting complicated for Malvin Mastil. Although he is a starter at Lausanne-Sport, the Algerian goalkeeper is going through a particularly tough phase in the Swiss league.
On Sunday, he experienced another nightmare evening against Thun, suffering a significant defeat (4-5) that extends his team's difficult streak.
Playing the entire match, the 26-year-old conceded five goals, three of which came in the final minutes. While Lausanne seemed capable of holding onto their lead, their opponents ultimately turned the game around in a spectacular comeback.
This latest failure highlights the problems the Swiss club has been facing for several weeks. Lausanne-Sport is now on a six-match losing streak in the league and finds itself at the bottom of the table with only six points. This alarming collective situation is also impacting Mastil's performance.
In all competitions, the goalkeeper has participated in twelve matches this season. He has conceded 22 goals in the league and has managed to keep a clean sheet only twice. These statistics do not bode well for him, especially with fierce competition among the Greens.
Luca Zidane could disrupt the hierarchy
These difficulties arise just weeks before the next national team gathering. During the September camp, Mastil took advantage of Luca Zidane's absence to defend the Algerian goal against Zambia and Burundi in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, a potential return of Zinedine Zidane's son could change the dynamics. If the goalkeeper were to reclaim his spot in the national team, Mastil could see his status, which he earned during the previous gathering, threatened.
The Lausanne goalkeeper still has a chance to turn the situation around. He must quickly regain his composure and improve his performances to convince coach Brahim Hemdani to continue trusting him.
