Former international referee Mohamed Adel stated in an interview with journalist Sihem Saleh during the program "El Clasico," aired on ON E, that he wished the management of the high-stakes match between Al Ahly and Zamalek had been entrusted to an Egyptian officiating crew, especially since the Premier League is still in its sixth round. He noted that relying on a foreign referee at this stage is not necessary in his view.
Adel added that Slovenian referee Rade Obrenovic, despite his good performance, is not currently considered the top referee in Slovenia, explaining that his current ranking may change in the future, and he could become the top referee in his country by 2027.
