Nayer: “It’s a great honor to represent the national team again… Hamdani clarified what he expects from us”

Algerian international defender, Soheib Nayer, expressed his great joy at receiving a call-up to the national team, emphasizing that representing the “Greens” is an honor for every player. He made these comments during a media session in the mixed zone at the National Center in Sidi Moussa.

The Saint-Étienne defender said: “It is always an honor for me to represent the national team. I had a strong start to the season with my club, and I was waiting for this call-up to the national team.”

Nayer confirmed that all players are determined to give their best: “We will do everything we need to, and we are all ready to serve the Greens.”

He also revealed that the players spoke with national coach Ibrahim Hamdani, who clarified what he expects from them in the upcoming phase: “We talked with coach Hamdani. He explained to us what he expects from us, and the competition is good for every player to perform at their best.”

Nayer addressed the media about the international retirements of Aissa Mandi and Riyad Mahrez, confirming that the duo left their mark on the national team: “They have given what they had and honored the national jersey. They are among the most significant players who represented the team and were very important.”

Nayer concluded by stating that the absence of two key players like Mandi and Mahrez in the upcoming phase will be a different experience for both players and fans: “It’s special not to see them again with the national team; they have given what they should, and I believe they have given even more than that.”
