Kaïl Boudache took advantage of Olympique Lyonnais' first European match of the season to make an impression. Starting under Paulo Fonseca against Anderlecht, the Algerian winger contributed to Lyon's victory at Lotto Park (1-2), with a notable performance down his flank.

Very dynamic from the outset, Boudache was notably involved in Lyon's first goal. After a series of dribbles on his side, the young Algerian delivered a cross that, after being deflected, found Noah Nartey, who scored OL's opening goal in the 8th minute. This action highlights the player's offensive capabilities, but Paulo Fonseca particularly noted another aspect of his performance.

When asked after the match about his players' performances, the Portuguese coach emphasized Boudache's commitment to the collective play. “He is a player who shows a lot of courage. With the ball, he doesn't hesitate to take many individual initiatives,” commented the Lyon coach.

Fonseca also highlighted the speed of the Algerian winger while specifying what he particularly appreciated during this match. “He is a very fast player, but what I appreciated the most today was the way he helped the team defend. I really liked Kaïl's defensive work,” he added.

A significant recognition for Boudache, whose performance therefore surpassed his offensive qualities. In a match where Lyon had to withstand pressure in the second half after Anderlecht's goal, his off-the-ball commitment was also noted by his coach.

This European match thus represents a new step in the evolution of the young Algerian, who sent a positive message to Paulo Fonseca on this first day of the Europa League.

Paulo Fonseca responded to my question about Kail Boudache and seems to be charmed by the Algerian, who had a very interesting match against Anderlecht!
