Petkovic once again sought by Bordeaux

As Brahim Hemdani prepares to announce his first squad for Algeria, Vladimir Petkovic is back in the spotlight in Bordeaux, where a previous financial dispute has resurfaced.
While Brahim Hemdani is set to reveal his first selection as head coach of the Algerian national team this Thursday, his predecessor Vladimir Petkovic is making headlines again in France. According to reports from L’Équipe, the former coach of the Greens has recently been approached regarding the Girondins de Bordeaux, a club he managed from 2021 until February 2022.
Vladimir Petkovic's return to Bordeaux is not expected from a sporting perspective. The discussion solely concerns the financial dispute that still ties him to the club since his departure in 2022. Along with his former assistant Antonio Manicone, the coach is claiming approximately 15 million euros in compensation related to their dismissal.
After being dismissed in the first instance on November 29, 2024, Petkovic and Manicone opted to appeal in January 2025. This case still represents a significant financial risk for Bordeaux, whose economic and institutional situation remains particularly precarious.
According to French media, Park Bench, which has been involved in the recent takeover project of the Girondins, has directly contacted Petkovic to negotiate an agreement. The goal would be to reach a settlement that would definitively close the dispute and alleviate the financial pressures on the future of the Bordeaux club.
