Petkovic ultimately leaves with 2 million euros!

The former coach of the Greens, who reached an amicable agreement with the FAF for his resignation, has received another payment from a previous employer!

The agreement reached regarding the future of the Girondins de Bordeaux also resolves a past dispute involving Vladimir Petkovic. The former coach of the Algerian national team, who managed the Bordeaux club before leaving his position in February 2022, will ultimately receive a compensation much lower than what he initially demanded.

According to reports from Sud-Ouest, Le Figaro, and L’Équipe, an agreement has been established between the Girondins and the Bosnian-Swiss coach regarding the compensation related to his dismissal. Petkovic, along with his assistant Antonio Manicone, had claimed a sum of 15,139,880 euros before the labor court.

The dispute, which dates back to his departure from Bordeaux, had taken on significant financial importance for a club already facing major economic difficulties. In the end, both parties managed to reach a compromise as part of the British fund Park Bench's takeover project of the Girondins.

The agreement therefore provides for the payment of 1.9 million euros to Vladimir Petkovic, while Antonio Manicone will receive 250,000 euros. The total amount of compensation thus stands at 2.15 million euros, far from the more than 15 million euros initially requested.

This conclusion comes as Bordeaux strives to move on from a particularly tumultuous period. The proposed takeover by Park Bench includes a significant reduction of the club's debts, which would drop from around 26 to 13 million euros, as well as a continuation plan spanning twelve years.

For Petkovic, this compensation thus ends a dispute that began after his time at the Girondins. The coach then returned to the Algerian team, before being recently dismissed from his position after more than two years at the helm of the Greens.
