The Grand Egyptian Museum welcomed a group of riders from the Longines Global Champions Tour ahead of its inaugural edition in Egypt, set to take place at the Pyramids of Giza from October 22 to 24, 2026. This event will combine the richness of Egyptian civilization with some of the top stars in global equestrian sports.

This visit allowed the participating riders to explore part of Egypt's rich heritage before entering three days of anticipated competitions around the Pyramids of Giza. The experience will blend sport, culture, and tourism, enhancing the connection between athletes and fans from around the world.

The Longines Global Champions Tour was established as an initiative during the cultural years in Qatar, and hosting these competitions in Cairo marks a historic milestone in the tour's journey. It highlights the ability of major sporting events to transcend competitive boundaries, becoming a platform for cultural exchange and showcasing the sites that host them.

The tour will feature a selection of the world's top riders, including Olympic champions and medalists from World Championships, as well as several winners of the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix.

The lineup includes British rider Ben Maher, who has won two Olympic gold medals in individual and team events and has achieved over 20 Grand Prix victories in the tour. He will be joined by Germans Daniel Deusser and Marcus Ehning, both of whom have impressive records in Olympic and global achievements, along with their Grand Prix victories.
