Former Algerian international midfielder Adlène Guedioura expressed his interest in supporting the national team during an interview with Oryx FM.

The 40-year-old veteran of Crystal Palace retired from professional football two years ago, after a final stint at CR Belouizdad, his 19th club in a rich career that took him from France to England, passing through Belgium and Qatar.

It is in this last country, where he resides, that he began a new career as an assistant coach with Al Arabi for six months between 2024 and 2025, after gaining initial experience in the youth setup at Al Wakrah.

Since then, Guedioura has been often linked to the position of sporting director, whether at CR Belouizdad or especially at Mouloudia d'Alger, where his appointment was expected this summer, but did not materialize.

In an interview yesterday with Algerian journalist Amina Bouamari on Oryx FM, the Francophone station in Qatar, Guedioura stated that he has a preference for a transition to sporting director, or even to the presidency of a club, rather than a return to the pitch.

However, when asked about the possibility of joining the technical staff of Brahim Hemdani and Anthar Yahia, he did not close the door and declared he is ready for any eventuality:

“It will depend on the needs; I am available, I have obtained my diplomas. I don’t see myself as a coach, even though I enjoyed that experience, but when the country calls you, you can never say no!”
