Sebastian Vettel provides insights on his Formula 1 future as he reflects on life following retirement.
Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel has shared insights on a possible future position within the championship, although he is not actively seeking out teams for opportunities.
In a conversation on BBC's Chequered Flag Podcast after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the German reflected on his life after retirement. Vettel remains engaged with F1 and watched the race at the Baku City Circuit, where Mercedes' George Russell clinched victory ahead of the Red Bull pair of Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar.
While Vettel currently dedicates his time to managing a farm and prioritizing family, he mentioned that he is keeping an eye on the 2026 F1 regulations.
"Naturally, I am enjoying the time I have. I consider it a privilege to be in this position with my family, but I also manage a small farm at home, so I'm taking care of that," Vettel explained.
"I remain very much connected to the sport. Although I don’t hold an active position right now, I am closely following developments and caring about the sport's future. Especially regarding [F1's net zero goal in] 2030 or the upcoming regulations and potential changes.

"I remain open to whatever opportunities may arise in terms of a future role, but I'm not actively chasing it. I'm not reaching out to teams or individuals or submitting my CV around; instead, I'm observing from the outside with great enjoyment.
"However, the issues that occupied my mind during the final years of my racing career are still very much relevant. Topics concerning sustainability, the future—not just for myself and my children, but for everyone and the sport's future.
"That’s where it connects back to the projects I've undertaken, some of which are visible at the track, others less so, and I continue to contemplate the ideas I have for what might lie ahead."
