In an unexpected move, the Friedkin Group, the current owners of English football club Everton, announced their intention to sell the club just two years after acquiring it.

The newspaper's report added that the group will only agree to sell if they find a buyer capable of taking the club to a "new level".

The group acquired Farhad Moshiri's 94 percent stake in December 2024 through its investment arm in the UK, "Roundhouse Capital".

This deal brought the stability the club desperately needed after a long series of financial crises and tumultuous events.

Despite their readiness to sell, the Friedkin Group remains fully committed to supporting the club, according to the newspaper, which noted that the current owners will not rush the exit process, adding that they are willing to maintain control of the club until the ideal buyer appears.

After a disappointing summer transfer window, Scottish manager David Moyes clarified the nature of his relationship with the owners, revealing that he rarely communicates directly with Dan Friedkin, the head of the group.

Moyes said: "My actual communication is with Angus Kinnear, (the CEO of Everton), he is the person I go to meet. Then comes Rishi (Maguithia), followed by the head of the Friedkin family in America. In truth, I don’t have any direct conversations with them."

Everton currently sits in ninth place in the Premier League standings, with 9 points from their first five matches of the season, having achieved two wins and three draws, without suffering any defeats so far.
