The city of Tangier is preparing to host the start of the 18th edition of the "Africa Eco Race" on January 24, 2027, heading towards the Pink Lake in Senegal. The competition is expected to conclude on February 6, after crossing Moroccan and Mauritanian territories, in a route that combines sporting challenge with the exploration of Africa's natural and tourist potential.

For the second consecutive year, the city will host the beginning of this international sporting event, with participants arriving from January 21 to 23 for administrative and technical checks before the race officially kicks off on January 24, coinciding with a preliminary stage on the municipal beach.

The Moroccan stages will be a focal point of the competition, featuring routes that combine fast sections, technical terrains, and navigation challenges, testing the competitors' driving and endurance skills. These stages will also highlight the natural and cultural diversity of the kingdom, presenting it to a wide international audience.

The route will connect the northern regions of the kingdom to its southern provinces, reaching Guerguerat before continuing the journey to Mauritania and Senegal. The city of Dakhla is expected to be one of the race's highlights, hosting the scheduled rest day on January 30, allowing teams to maintain their vehicles and regain readiness, while also showcasing the city's tourist attractions.

The significance of this event goes beyond the sporting aspect, encompassing the promotion of Moroccan tourist destinations and increasing the kingdom's appeal in the fields of sports tourism and adventure tourism. It also aims to strengthen human connections and cooperation among African countries, aligning with Morocco's approach to enhancing South-South cooperation and the royal initiative aimed at facilitating coastal countries' access to the Atlantic Ocean.

In terms of sports, the 18th edition will feature competitors in various categories, including motorcycles, cars, lightweight desert vehicles (SSV), and trucks, along with historical vehicles (Historic) and Raid categories, in a race that relies on navigation skills, endurance, and the spirit of cooperation among participants.

After completing the Moroccan stages, the caravan will continue its path through the Mauritanian sand dunes to Senegal, through twelve stages that will test the participants' abilities, before reaching the Pink Lake on February 6, 2027, marking the conclusion of this African adventure that combines sporting competition with discovery and tourism promotion.
