Egypt aims to defend its title
The Egyptian team enters the tournament as the defending champion, focusing its efforts on defending its crown while benefiting from playing on home soil in front of its fans. The Pharaohs won the previous edition held in Saudi Arabia in 2023, defeating Oman in the final.
Group A includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, and Iraq, while Group B consists of Oman, Morocco, Lebanon, and Libya. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, with every team hoping to reach the podium.
The tournament has a history dating back to 2008, when its first edition was held in Egypt and won by the Libyan team, followed by Saudi Arabia claiming the title in 2010. Egypt won the title in 2014 and returned to the podium in the 2023 edition, entering the current tournament with ambitions to add another achievement to its record.
The tournament matches are broadcast on "ON Sport" channels, and the clash against Saudi Arabia marks an important start for the Pharaohs in their quest for the title, against a team that is also looking to kick off its campaign with a positive result. The group also includes Mauritania and Iraq, in competitions that will continue until the tournament concludes in Port Said.
