Egypt will host the Handball World Club Championship - Egypt 2026 for the third consecutive time, in its 19th edition, which will take place in the new capital at the Club Club Hall, from September 24 to October 1, organized by the United Company for Sports.
Largest Participation in the Tournament's History
This edition will witness the largest participation in the history of the Handball World Club Championships, with 10 clubs representing different continents. The participating clubs include: Egyptian Al Ahly "host of the tournament" - Spanish Barcelona "defending champion" - Kuwaiti Burgan "representative of Asia" - Moroccan Darb Sultan Forum "representative of Africa" - German Fox Berlin "representative of Europe" - Brazilian Pineros "representative of South and Central America" - American Los Angeles "representative of North America and the Caribbean" - Australian Sydney "representative of Oceania" - Hungarian Veszprem "special invitation" - Egyptian Zamalek "special invitation."
The United Company for Sports announced the tournament's logo, continuing the success achieved in the previous two editions, with the slogan "Egypt welcomes the world... from the continents to the new capital."
Amr Salah Appointed Head of the Organizing Committee
The organizing committee for the Handball World Club Championship - Egypt - 2026 announced the appointment of Amr Salah as the head of the organizing committee for the tournament.
Yasser Al-Ramli as Tournament Director
The organizing committee for the Handball World Club Championship 2026 decided to appoint Yasser Al-Ramli as the tournament director, as part of the preparations for organizing the global event in Egypt.
Al Ahly in Group B
The draw for the Handball World Club Championship - Egypt 2026 placed Al Ahly in Group B, as the team qualified directly to the group stage as the representative of the host country.
Al Ahly will begin its matches on September 25 against the winner of the match between Hungarian Veszprem and Australian Sydney University, before facing Kuwaiti Burgan on September 27, and then German Fox Berlin on September 29.
Group B includes: German Fox Berlin, Al Ahly, Kuwaiti Burgan, and the winner of the match between Hungarian Veszprem and Australian Sydney University.
Zamalek Faces Los Angeles
Zamalek will compete in the preliminary round of the Handball World Club Championship, facing American Los Angeles on September 24, with the winner advancing to the group stage.
Group A includes: Spanish Barcelona, Moroccan Darb Sultan Forum, Brazilian Pineros, and the winner of the match between Zamalek and American Los Angeles.
Format of the Handball World Club Championship
The preliminary round will feature two matches, with Zamalek facing American Los Angeles, while Hungarian Veszprem will play against Australian Sydney University, with the winners advancing to the group stage.
The losing teams in the preliminary round will not exit the competition, as they will play matches to determine the 9th and 10th places.
After the group stage, knockout matches will be held to determine placements, with the winners of the two groups competing for the Handball World Club Championship title, while the second-placed teams will play for the bronze medal, and the third-placed teams will compete for the 5th and 6th places, while the fourth-placed teams will face off for the 7th and 8th places.
The United Company for Sports announced that the matches of the tournament will be broadcast exclusively on ON Sport network, as well as through the ON Sport application.
