The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Olympic Committee have approved the inclusion of karate in the African Games, which will be held in Cairo in August 2027. This confirms the participation of the sport in the major continental event that Egypt is preparing to host.
The Egyptian government's approval for karate to join the championship hosted in the country is a strong endorsement, given the high status of Egyptian karate in Africa and the outstanding results achieved by national teams in recent years.
For his part, Mohamed Dahrawi, President of the Egyptian Karate Federation, expressed his happiness with the government's decision and the political leadership's support for all sports, including karate. Dahrawi added that the Egyptian Federation is fully prepared to participate and compete vigorously for the title.
Readiness of Karate for Competition in the African Games
Dahrawi said: “The confirmation of karate's participation in the African Games in Cairo is significant news for us. We thank everyone who contributed to supporting this decision, and we affirm that the Egyptian Federation is ready for this major event, with a clear goal of competing for the title and achieving the best results.”
He added: “Holding the Games in Cairo provides us with great motivation, but it also places a greater responsibility on us, as we want the participation of Egyptian karate to reflect the name, history, and achievements of Egypt at both the African and international levels.”
