Official preparations for the 2026 World Shooting Championship, featuring rifle and pistol events, began today, Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Egypt. The championship will take place from October 8 to 20, with participation from 50 countries and around 600 male and female shooters from around the globe, making it one of the most significant international shooting events on the ISSF calendar.

The events will be held at the International Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital, which is fully prepared to host this global event. All necessary technical, organizational, and logistical arrangements have been completed to facilitate the competitions and welcome participating delegations and top shooting stars from around the world.

Weapon Inspection and Official Training
 

Today marks the start of the official technical procedures for the championship, including the inspection of weapons and equipment belonging to the participating athletes and delegations. Official training sessions for several events will also take place, representing the final stage of technical preparations before the competitions for medals and rankings begin.

The training will include events such as the 10-meter air pistol, 10-meter air rifle, 25-meter pistol, and 50-meter rifle, as shooters prepare to handle the competition fields and set up their weapons and equipment according to ISSF regulations.

The opening ceremony of the 2026 World Shooting Championship will take place tomorrow, Friday, October 9, at a hotel in the New Administrative Capital, with the attendance of participating delegations and officials from the championship and the ISSF.

The opening ceremony is part of the final preparations for the official competitions, which will commence on Saturday after all technical and organizational procedures for the championship are completed.

Saturday: Official Start of Competitions

The official competitions for the World Cup will kick off on Saturday, October 10, according to the approved schedule, starting with mixed 10-meter air pistol and mixed 10-meter air rifle events, along with the women's 25-meter pistol competition.

The competitions will continue throughout the championship days across various pistol and rifle disciplines, beginning with air weapon events, followed by the 25-meter pistol and 50-meter rifle competitions, and culminating in the 300-meter rifle events – three positions and 300-meter prone, in addition to mixed competitions and qualification, elimination, and final stages.

Hazem Hosny, President of the Egyptian and African Shooting Federation, confirmed that Egypt has completed its preparations to host the World Cup. He noted that the participation of 50 countries and around 600 male and female shooters underscores the significance of the championship and reflects the strong confidence in Egypt's ability to organize and host major international events.

He added that the International Olympic City is fully ready to welcome the competitions and participating delegations, emphasizing that the Egyptian Shooting Federation is coordinating with all relevant authorities to provide all elements of success for the championship, in a manner that befits Egypt's name and international standing.
