Tolu Arokodare is reaping the rewards of his impressive start to the season at Ajax. The 25-year-old forward, who has quickly become a fan favorite at Johan Cruijff ArenA, has been called up to the Nigeria national team for the first time in ten months.

Arokodare, who had been sidelined while with Wolverhampton Wanderers, has quickly regained his best form in Amsterdam. Ajax has loaned him for a season, with an option to buy for around twenty million euros. This tall striker currently ranks ahead of Marcos Leonardo and Kasper Dolberg in the attacking hierarchy. He has already scored five goals and provided two assists in eight matches.

Given his remarkable performances, Arokodare deserves to return to the Nigeria national team. He was left out during the last two international windows as the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup. The team, led by Éric Chelle, will face Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Arokodare has played ten international matches for Nigeria so far. However, he will face intense competition, particularly from Victor Osimhen.
