Transfer Market: Guitoun sets his future in Belgium

Oct 15, 2026

In full confidence since the start of the season, Guitoun's journey with Sporting Charleroi is taking on a new dimension. The Algerian defender and the Belgian club have decided to continue their collaboration, with shared ambitions for the coming years.

Sporting Charleroi officially announced on Wednesday the contract extension of Guitoun. Now tied to the Zebras until June 2029, the Algerian international right-back confirms the important place he has gradually secured within the Belgian team.

Arriving in the summer of 2025 from FC Metz on a loan deal with an option to buy, the 30-year-old defender quickly impressed his new surroundings. His commitment, leadership, and consistency have allowed him to establish himself firmly in the starting eleven. Impressed by his performances, the Charleroi management ultimately decided to activate his purchase option last summer, before showing him further trust through this extension.

Since the start of the 2026-2027 season, Guitoun has continued his momentum. A starter in the first eight league matches, he already boasts an interesting offensive record with two goals scored and two assists provided. These statistics highlight his contribution in both phases of play and his ability to impact beyond his defensive responsibilities.

“I feel at home”

The player himself did not hide his satisfaction after this announcement. “I am really happy to be able to commit long-term with Sporting. There is a real trust between the club and me, and above all, I feel at home here. There are great things still ahead of us,” he shared.

The Algerian international also emphasized the special relationship he has built with the Charleroi supporters, to whom he wishes to continue repaying the trust placed in him.

At 30 years old, Guitoun thus secures his future in Belgium until 2029. This extension rewards his performances and confirms his status as an important player in the Sporting Charleroi project.
