Yassine Meriah has ended his playing career. The Tunisian announced his international retirement on Saturday.
Injuries and health issues have brought Yassine Meriah's career to a close. At 33 years old, the central defender has made 94 appearances for the Carthage Eagles, scoring 6 goals for the national team.
He started his career at AS Ariana and went on to play for various European clubs. In 2015, he joined CS Sfaxien, where he stood out for 3 years before moving to Europe. He began at Olympiakos (Greece) and later played in Turkey, before settling at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates since 2021.
With the national team, he received his first call-up in 2015. Yassine Meriah participated in the 2018 World Cup as well as the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019, 2023, and 2025.
Despite this impressive journey, Yassine Meriah faced a series of injuries that prevented him from staying at the top of football for long.
