After retiring from international duty this summer, Lionel Messi played this weekend during the international break with his team, Inter Miami.

He traveled to Ohio to face the Columbus Crew, where Algerian international Mohamed Farsi is regaining his form after a long injury layoff.

In the ninth minute, following a superb cross-field pass from Farsi, Moroccan Anass Zarouzy controlled the ball and fired a shot that hit the crossbar of Miami's Argentine goalkeeper, Rocco Rios Novo. Fifteen minutes later, a foul was called in the box, and Joseph Martinez opened the scoring for the hosts (28th).

Five minutes later, Lionel Messi prepared to take a free kick from a tight angle on the right. Everyone expected him to cross for one of his teammates like Luis Suarez or Casemiro, but he curled a magnificent ball into the opposite corner of the net to equalize (33rd)!

Inter Miami then ramped up their efforts but had a goal disallowed for offside, while Zarouzy hit the crossbar two more times before Columbus scored the winning goal in stoppage time (90+8).

With this defeat, Inter Miami, which is fighting for a playoff spot, remains 3rd in the Eastern Conference, while Mohamed Farsi's teammates close the gap to four points from the playoffs after this 2-1 victory.
