Zerouane: “Amoura is the one who contributed to our World Cup qualification... I hope he regains his form”
Algerian national team midfielder Adam Zerouane expressed his full support for his teammate in the “Greens,” Mohamed Amine Amoura, following their match against Zambia yesterday, Friday.
Amoura drew attention after the match, as he broke down in tears before his teammates, including Adel Boulbina and Ibrahim Maza, came to console him.
The player from Jijel is going through a tough time with the national team after facing criticism from Algerian fans for his lack of goals. He reached his tenth consecutive match without scoring against Zambia.
Despite this, Amoura delivered a notable performance in the Zambia match, providing two assists, but he missed two scoring opportunities, which affected him even more after the game.
When Zerouane was asked about Amoura's situation, he replied: “Amoura is someone who always wants to contribute. He loves to score and give his best for the national team.”
The Saint-Gilloise star added: “Today he had two chances but missed them, and that happens to any player.”
Zerouane emphasized that Amoura played a significant role in the “Greens’” qualification for the 2026 World Cup, stating: “If we count his goals in the qualifiers, we can say he is the one who helped us qualify for the World Cup.”
He concluded by saying: “I hope he regains his form... Amoura is a key player for the national team, and we need him. We hope he can contribute to us.”
