Senegal has received a bye in the first round of the U23 AFCON qualifiers. However, the Lions are gearing up for the second round. This week, they will play two friendly matches against The Gambia in Dakar.

The Senegalese Football Federation announced on Wednesday the roster of players selected for this double-header. Under the leadership of Serigne Saliou Dia, Senegal will face The Gambia on October 3rd, followed by a rematch on October 5th.

A preliminary training camp was held two weeks ago. For these friendly matches, a completely revamped squad has been called up, with nearly ten players replaced. El Hadj Malick Diop, Gorgui Diop, Léon Pierre Ndong, Sandia Dansokho, among others, will not participate. The coaching staff will have the opportunity to evaluate new talents such as Mohamed Sissokho, Raphaël Ndong, and Antoine Wenck.

In the second round of the U23 AFCON qualifiers, Senegal will take on the winner of the clash between Djibouti and South Sudan.
