Major change at MC Alger: Hadj Redjem steps down, a new president takes over.

MC Alger has made a significant change at the top of its governance. During a meeting held on Monday evening, the extraordinary general assembly of SSPA/Doyen elected Mohamed Arabi Yaâgoubi as the new chairman of the board, succeeding Mohamed-Hakim Hadj-Redjem. This reorganization also affects the structure of the governing body itself.

This announcement was made public by the Doyen this afternoon. The arrival of Mohamed Arabi Yaâgoubi marks the end of a chapter that began four years ago, a term marked by several national titles and a renewed visibility on the continental stage.

This departure did not surprise observers of the club. The possibility of Hadj-Redjem stepping down as president of Mouloudia had already been discussed last April, as the Doyen was heading toward a third consecutive title. Constant pressures from the club's environment and budgetary negotiations with Sonatrach, a shareholder of MCA, frequently appeared in the explanations provided.

The Algiers club took care to publicly acknowledge the work done by its outgoing president, wishing him good luck for the rest of his career. This tone was much more serene than that observed at their neighbors USM Alger, where the board terminated Saïd Allik's functions amid internal conflict last summer.

Hadj-Redjem remains for a month to ensure the transition

It is important to note that Hadj-Redjem will not immediately leave his position. He will retain a seat on the board, but temporarily and for a limited duration of thirty days. The goal is clear: to allow for a smooth transition of files without interruption in the management of ongoing affairs.

This temporary solution prevents the club from finding itself without resources in the face of imminent administrative and sporting deadlines. It also demonstrates a desire for institutional continuity, as the Doyen simultaneously manages its national obligations and African aspirations.

Two new members join the Doyen's management

The general assembly did not only address the presidency issue. It also welcomed two new members, Ali Abderrahim and Abdenour Kaoua, who now join the management team. The board now consists of four active members, with the former president temporarily added.

These new appointments coincide with the expiration of the terms of three leaders: Ahmed Turki Messaoudi, Rafik Belmane, and Kamel Kechida. The club expressed its gratitude for their service during this period. A thought was also dedicated to the memory of Omar Gueterandji, a former board member who passed away, whose contributions were recognized with appreciation.

A new governance to extend the sporting cycle of MC Alger

This administrative reshuffle comes after a year already marked by numerous changes. The technical management was also modified in the spring when Khaled Ben Yahia was recalled to lead the first team until June 2027. The Tunisian technician thus began his third term with the Vert et Rouge.

This choice followed an official separation a few days earlier. By activating a clause in his contract, Rulani Mokwena ended his Algiers adventure after eight months of collaboration to join Libya. Since then, staff stability has become a priority for the club's officials.

It is now up to Yaâgoubi and his new colleagues to maintain this balance. Between the expectations of a public accustomed to trophies, financial constraints, and internal structuring, the margin for error remains narrow at MC Alger. The management wished them every success, emphasizing the importance of continuity in the sporting and institutional project of Mouloudia.
