Ahmed Abdel Rahim Esho, a player for Zamalek, is undergoing medical examinations to assess the extent of a muscle injury he sustained during his team's match against AS Port, the Djiboutian champions, and to determine how long he might be sidelined.
Zamalek achieved a significant victory over AS Port, winning 4-0 in the match held yesterday evening at Cairo International Stadium, in the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The first leg took place last Friday at the same venue, ending with Zamalek winning 2-1.
Abdullah El-Said scored a hat-trick, netting two goals in the 7th and 8th minutes, before adding a third in the 18th minute of the match. Both El-Said and Chico Banza received yellow cards following a confrontation with an AS Port player, while Ahmed Esho was injured and replaced by Oday Al-Dabbagh.
At the start of the second half, Moataz Gamal substituted Mohamed Ibrahim and Nasser Mansi for Ahmed Fattouh and Ahmed Sherif. Abdullah El-Said was replaced in the 58th minute by Mahmoud Jahad, and in the 69th minute, Mostafa El-Zanary came on for Chico Banza. In stoppage time, Nasser Mansi scored the fourth goal after an assist from Oday Al-Dabbagh.
With this victory, Zamalek advanced to the Round of 32 in the CAF Champions League, where they will face Rwandan Army, who qualified after defeating the Congolese Eagles.
