S. Africa: Hearing in Johannesburg delayed for individual charged with homicide

A man accused of murdering his wife and two daughters in England appeared in a courthouse in Johannesburg on Thursday. Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a British national originally from Zimbabwe, has had the remainder of his hearing postponed.

Tshuma, 45 years old, has confessed to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition within South Africa. He was taken into custody back in July in a Johannesburg neighborhood, following an operation that involved both South African police and Interpol.

A family member residing overseas reached out to authorities in the UK after the family had not been in contact for several days. Subsequently, the bodies of his wife and children, aged 15 and 5, were found at their home near Bedford, north of London.

Documents from the coroner's office indicate that they succumbed to head injuries. The independent office responsible for police oversight is investigating the interaction between the police and the family prior to their deaths.
