Édouard Mendy has officially announced his international retirement from Senegal. At 34 years old, the goalkeeper for the Lions of Teranga ends his journey with the national team, which he represented since 2018.
With 59 appearances, Mendy has made his mark in the history of the Lions. He notably won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 in Cameroon and the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, in addition to participating in two World Cups in 2022 and 2026.
The Senegalese goalkeeper was also honored with the FIFA Best Goalkeeper award in 2021, a recognition that highlighted an exceptional year marked by his triumph in the Champions League with Chelsea.
His departure thus signifies the end of a significant chapter for the Lions of Teranga, a few years after playing a crucial role in some of the recent greatest successes of Senegalese football.
