Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele scored in the second half, leading France to a 2-0 victory over Morocco in the opening quarterfinal of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Thursday.
With this performance, Mbappe has matched Argentina's captain Lionel Messi with eight goals in the tournament.
France also played a pivotal role in Morocco's exit during the 2022 World Cup, securing a 2-0 win in the semifinals.
This match was one that France rightfully claimed, demonstrating superiority in possession, goal attempts, and shots on target.

Mbappe had the opportunity to score first in the 28th minute from the penalty spot but his attempt was thwarted by Yassine Bounou.
However, Mbappe redeemed himself in the 60th minute, curling the ball past Bounou into the net.
Just six minutes later, Dembele extended the lead with a low shot into the bottom corner after sprinting towards the goal.
France is set to face either Spain or Belgium in the semifinals, with those two teams meeting in the quarterfinals on Friday.
