The organizing committee for the 12th African Universities Games "Cairo 2026" arranged a cultural and sightseeing tour for the board of the African University Sports Federation and its executive committee, which included a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids, coinciding with the launch of the event.

This visit is part of the cultural and field program accompanying the sporting event, aimed at highlighting Egypt's cultural and tourism potential, and providing the African delegation with the opportunity to explore the components of ancient Egyptian civilization, thereby enhancing the connections and communication between sports institutions across the African continent.

Visiting the Pyramids as a Historical Landmark

The tour program included exploring the halls of the Grand Egyptian Museum and learning about its most prominent archaeological artifacts, followed by a visit to the Giza Pyramids to stand before one of the most significant historical landmarks globally. The organizing committee confirmed that organizing these tours reflects its commitment to expanding the event's activities beyond sports competitions, turning it into a platform for cultural and human exchange.

Cairo Championship Coincides with International University Sports Day Celebrations

"Cairo 2026" holds special significance as it coincides with the continent's celebrations of African Union Day, International University Sports Day, and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the African University Sports Federation; making the Egyptian capital a gathering place for the youth of the continent around the values of fair competition and friendship.

It is noteworthy that the organization of the event witnesses extensive cooperation and participation from several entities and institutions, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed by Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Mr. Jawhar Nabil, and the African University Sports Federation, headed by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Vice President of the Supreme Committee for the event and President of the African Universities Federation, organized by Prism Company, led by Engineer Ahmed Hegazy, with direct supervision from the Egyptian University Sports Federation, headed by Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdi, President of the organizing committee.
