“I felt immense relief after scoring. We battled until the very end, and the situation became tough, even with a player advantage,” he stated.

“We will do everything within our power to ensure Messi lifts the World Cup once more. Each match in this tournament is a fight for him. The first thing I did after scoring was run to embrace him.”

“This group is incredibly united and strong. We’re in a good position. Now, it’s about resting and focusing on the next game. There are two matches remaining, and we’re going to give it our all,” Álvarez told TyC Sports following the game.

“On a personal note, I’m obviously thrilled with the goal. Every match in this World Cup has been tense with lots of added time, but we know we’ll fight until the very end and give everything. We’ve been scoring late goals, but as long as we’re winning, it’s all positive.”

Looking towards the semi-final against England, the forward remarked: “It’s going to be a tough match. They’re an excellent team.”

“Things got challenging today, even with an extra player, but we were confident that the goal would arrive.”

“We acknowledge that England has exceptional players. They’re a formidable national team and performing very well. But now it’s about recovering and preparing for our own game.”

Álvarez mentioned that scoring was vital for his self-assurance, but emphasized that the team's achievements were paramount.

“As a forward, scoring is important. Personally, I feel I’ve improved as the tournament has progressed. I hope to be even better in these final matches. However, the key point is that the team wins.”

“As a striker, you always aspire to contribute by finding the net, but you also need to track back and defend. We all work together, so as long as the team continues to win, we’re all satisfied,”
