World Cup 2026: Argentina, Not England, Faces Pressure to Triumph – Guehi

England defender Marc Guéhi has revealed that the Three Lions are facing no pressure at all as they prepare for their FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final matchup against Argentina.

England will compete against Argentina at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for a chance to reach the World Cup final, where Spain is waiting after their 2-0 victory over France in the earlier semi-final.

In the lead-up to this highly anticipated match, the defender expressed that he is fully embracing the team’s situation, emphasizing that Argentina carries the significant burden of expectations as the reigning champions.

‘There isn’t any pressure on us,’ Guehi stated. ‘What’s the pressure? The responsibility lies with them. They’re the world champions.

‘They have to come out and defend their title. There’s absolutely no pressure on us.

‘It resonates tremendously with each and every one of us. I believe you can see that while there have been tough moments on the pitch, no one has been rattled by it.

‘Everyone has remained incredibly composed, looking at one another with a shared understanding. From the very first camp, the manager’s message has been about brotherhood, being there for each other, and providing support.

‘And this shines through during the toughest times, which we’ve demonstrated throughout the tournament. We’ve exhibited great resilience. We’ll continue to ride this wave and see how it goes.’

Argentina has also struggled to impress during their journey through the knockout stages as they aim to become the first national team since their rivals Brazil in 1962 to successfully defend the trophy.
