Asante Kotoko is poised to hire seasoned South African coach Eric Tinkler as their new head coach, concluding their quest for a permanent manager. The Porcupine Warriors have been without a definitive head coach since Karim Zito's exit, with interim leaders Prince Yaw Owusu and subsequently Hamza Obeng managing the team. Recently, the club brought on Dutchman Stanley Menzo as Director of Football, charged with guiding the technical strategy, making the search for a new head coach a top priority. Tinkler comes with extensive expertise, having managed multiple teams in the South African Premier Soccer League. His previous roles include stints with Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City, SuperSport United, Chippa United, and Maritzburg United, with his most recent position at Sekhukhune United. The 55-year-old ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder, who earned 45 caps for South Africa, has secured three trophies during his coaching tenure: the League Cup with Cape Town City FC (2016), the Nedbank Cup with Orlando Pirates (2013/2014), and the South Africa 8 Cup with SuperSport United FC (2017/2018). Tinkler's arrival is anticipated to provide stability and expertise to Kotoko as they gear up for the 2026/27 season.
